What Matcha Society Means Today

Meaning. Growth. Invitation.

When we started Matcha Society, we were focused on building something high-quality.

What we didn’t realise was that it would also build us.

This chapter isn’t about the leap or the doubt. It’s about what stayed. What grew. And what Matcha Society stands for today.

What Building MS Has Taught Us

Consistency is everything.

People see launches, collaborations or milestones. What they don’t see are the small things - the emails, the frameworks, the SOPs, the daily meetings. A brand isn’t built by one person. It’s built by a team, by structure, by operations that hold everything together when things grow and when things fail.

Operations and structure are the frame of a business. When pressure comes, the business leans on that frame. If it’s weak, the cracks show.

MS has also taught me something more personal. I’ve always prioritised people - the team, the farmers, the community. But focusing on others showed me that I have to take care of myself first. The by-product of serving people well is growth,  but only if you’re steady enough to carry it.

And above everything, consistency. The small wins. The daily effort. That’s what builds something real.

Building MS taught me that I’m more resilient than I thought, but also softer than I realised.

I used to believe I needed to feel fully confident before starting something new. What I’ve learned is that confidence doesn’t come before you begin. It’s built in the doing.

It’s also shown me that I’m allowed to have multiple sides. I can be clinical and structured in healthcare, and creative and aesthetic with matcha. Both are real. Both are me.

Growth hasn’t been glamorous. It’s been slower than it looks online. I used to think that if something was aligned, it would feel smooth. Now I understand that alignment doesn’t remove difficulty; it just makes the difficulty worth it.

And building something properly takes time. That isn’t a weakness. That’s care.

What We Understand Now

It’s not just about working hard, it’s about working smart.

People often overestimate what they can accomplish in a day and underestimate what they can accomplish in a year. If you set a goal, think about it every day. Work toward it every day. Think bigger than you can imagine.

When I studied business at university, I thought finance and accounting were the superior arms of business. Now I understand that no single arm stands alone. A business leans on all parts: finance, marketing, operations, and people. Each serves a different purpose.

And the people are always the most important.

I understand now that slowness has value.

We live in a world that pushes speed, fast launches, fast trends, and fast content. But matcha, at its core, asks you to pause. To whisk. To sit. To taste.

Matcha Society protects that feeling.

It preserves the idea that not everything has to be rushed to be valuable.

What We’re Most Proud Of

Alan

Consistency.

The small decisions that no one sees. Trialling hundreds of matcha samples and selecting only two or three. Paying thousands of dollars for samples. Speaking to countless farms and agents. Moving from working at home to building a fully functioning warehouse with a growing team.

What looks like one post on Instagram is often the result of hundreds of unseen decisions.

I’m proud of the team - people who align with the values and work continuously to ensure we’re always on track.

I’m proud of the standards we’ve kept.

The batches we didn’t release because they didn’t feel right. The extra testing. The financial risks are taken to protect quality instead of cutting corners.

From the outside, it might just look like a product.

But behind it is restraint. And care.

Who Is Matcha Society For?

When I picture our community, I see creators, artists, entrepreneurs, and ambitious people. Matcha lovers. Ritual lovers. People who use it to get their thoughts on track and accomplish their goals.

It’s the dedicated beverage for people building something.

I picture someone ambitious but tired.

Someone is building something of their own. Someone who carries responsibility. Someone who craves a routine that feels beautiful and grounding.

I picture people who care about quality, who notice details, who want depth over noise. People who are evolving quietly.

Why We’re Here

We’re here because of grit.

Grit is passion and sustained perseverance toward long-term goals, even when there are obstacles or setbacks. Matcha Society exists because of that.

We’re here because of our team. Independence is limited. Growth happens together.

We’re here because quality matters. Because doing things properly still matters. Because we wanted life in the product, not something flat or reduced to a trend.

Matcha has depth. It has identity. It deserves to be upheld properly.
