Tim Tam Cream Matcha Recipe

A modern Australian take on your daily matcha

This recipe takes that familiar flavour and pairs it with matcha to create something that feels both comforting and new.

It’s not just a drink. It sits somewhere between a matcha latte and a dessert. Layered, textured, and designed to be sipped slowly.

What makes this different

Instead of simply adding chocolate, this recipe builds flavour through layers:

  • A soft, airy Tim Tam cream
  • Freshly whisked matcha for balance
  • Milk and ice to bring everything together

The result is creamy, slightly indulgent, but still clean enough to enjoy as a daily ritual.

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 2~3 Tim Tams
  • 50 ml whipping cream
  • 20 ml milk
  • 4 g matcha powder
  • 40 ml warm water
  • 80 ml milk
  • Ice

Step 1: Make the Tim Tam cream

Crush the Tim Tams into fine crumbs. This forms the base of your cream and gives it that signature chocolate biscuit flavour.

Optional: Microwave the crumbs for about 5 seconds to slightly melt the chocolate. This helps the flavour blend more seamlessly into the cream.

Add whipping cream and a splash of milk, then whisk for about 40 seconds until the mixture becomes light, airy, and slightly thickened. You’re aiming for a soft, pourable consistency.

Step 2: Prepare the matcha

In a separate bowl, whisk the matcha powder with warm water until smooth and lightly foamy.

A well-whisked matcha is key here. It cuts through the richness of the cream, keeping the drink balanced.

Step 3: Build the base

Fill a glass with ice, then pour in the milk.

Slowly pour the matcha over the milk to create a clean, layered effect. This contrast between the green matcha and white milk sets the visual tone of the drink.

Step 4: Finish with the cream

Gently spoon the Tim Tam cream over the top.

Some of it will sit on the surface, while some will sink slightly into the drink — creating a cookies-and-cream texture as you sip.

How to drink it

Enjoy it layered for a more gradual experience. Use a teaspoon to scoop the Tim Tam cream, then sip the matcha beneath.
